Another question for the tech-whizzes among you:

Lately I experience audio-problems (audio is kinda "clipped" and on and off) in some rooms, mainly from US-guys. Strange are two things:

1. Asking other guests in the room if they have the same problem saying they don´t
2. In other rooms at the same log-in time I have no problems at all

Now I wonder if this problems is on my or the models room end.

I hate providing vague and general advice, but in your case it might be just the cure for your problem. I would suggest making sure you have the latest version of Flash and that you have nothing else running at the same time that could be interfering with the audio delivery.

I would initially think a connectivity issue if you have clipping on and off (assuming the video does the same). The video and audio streams are delivered together so if the video is in sync but the audio cuts in and out then my thoughts would go to your CPU being taxed by the decoding.

I would test your speed on :-

http://www.speedtest.net/


add the links it provides for sharing the info for your connections here and can check it out for you, try the nearest test server to you and then a Los Angeles, CA, USA server as a test to and provide both links or paste the information here that you see.


I just have a feeling it's your internet speeds and are you using WIFI to connect to the internet or any other wireless type service ?


Also remember some rooms transmit at higher bit rates and these rooms maybe the ones causing you the problems. Test your speed and then we can go from there really, but as Brad also said it could be your computer being too slow to decode the audio and video stream too, so list the specification of your computer too. Also maybe add the room names that cause you problems that way I can go have a look and check what rate they are transmitting/streaming at.

Thanks for ever being so helpfull.

Here are my basic data:
Computer: TOSHIBA SAT C 670D-126
Browser: Firefox 14.06b7 and Google Chrom
Flashplayer 11.3r300
Netprovider Telekom with DSL 6000

The speedtest results are:

Download: 942 kbits rated very good
Upload: 155 kbits very good
Ping 78 ms very good
Connection: 302 con/min very good

Example rooms are: Cody Miller and Aris Troy

In another topic here (HD-Quality) there are actually symptoms described I´m experiencing.
May be that is one of the reasons.

bisporti23 your internet is not what I would class as quick mate, really you have a 1Mbps service and thats easily eaten up by the HD rooms that are really good quality and sending out video at almost and over the max speed your internet can take and if you open more than one room at a time that are sending out HD streams you will struggle even more, so try keeping it to one room open at a time and not have other people on the internet connection in the home.


What type of internet do you have ? Is it a cable type, ADSL, mobile .. etc.


Your internet speeds also explain why you may see audio and video problems in some rooms. If you can upgrade your internet to a better package I would do that, also check what package you are on and make sure you are paying for what you are getting and they are not selling you something that should get better speeds. 1Mbps services are kinda old school now.

Contacted the provider and there was actually an error in the connection.

Just did a test (with a different speedtest-provider) with two Flirt-tabs open and got the following results: (for Firefox)

DSL-Download: 129.056 kbite/s 16.132 kbyte/s
DSL-Upload 555 kbite/s 69 kbyte/s

Additionally I cleared all cookies.

The result was good (in Cody Millers room for example).

You should always run the speed test without anything open on the internet only the test to get a real speed test mate too, but as you said you had 2 rooms open and that was the reult so must be a lot better now, but do run a speed test again without anything running to see your true speed now. Seems the ISP had you on a wrong profile then.
