Why are some models allowed to play music in their rooms and other models are not allowed to play music in their room?

Gonna take a stab at answering this wcw. It has to do with copyrights of the music. Pretty much all models in the US aren't supposed to play any music you would hear except on an elevator :orglaugh

on the other hand westcoastwil.. you might find life ever so much more pleasant, if you ignore your or anyone else's need to correct some model's preferences for certain tunes, and simply enjoy along, or click the clever little "mute sound" button on the icon tray in the room software.. or perhaps, finding the sounds of eastern asian string bows and mountain horns and braying goats not to your taste, visit some other lovely delight's room

Poe-tay-toe, pa-tah-toe, I guess one person's "correct some model's preferences for certain tunes" is another's "protect model from being fined big dollars just for listen to music while they work." :guitar

The site has rules to protect itself and the models. It's so commonplace, listening to music, but the site must practice CYA.

i.e. nothing you'd hear on the radio. Some international models follow this rule too or their studios do. My guess is it may be up to the studios. If you hear music in a room, other than the site's preselected instrumentals, you may want to ask the model if they are allowed to play it. Models have been fined by their administrator for playing unauthorized music. It happened in a chat room I was in once a couple hundred dollars if I remember correctly. The model was taken aback by it.

I don't disagree with any of what you said above, but I have something to add to it which I think addresses what the thread starter was curious about. The best example I can think of is the SPB studios in which some models are permitted to have music, smoke, have premiere show rates, and ban abusive chatters. However, other models who sit in the very same spot on the same couch are heavily fined or even fired for doing the exact same thing. I must confess that I don't like smoking, but I don't think it is right to punish a model for doing it when other studios allow it. The boss of one studio in the Romanian region even GIVES the models cigarettes if they run out. It isn't the SITE that is enforcing these rules so much as it is the individual studios applying the rules as they determine is appropriate.

Basically, it is NOT the site itself being mean enforcers, it is a couple of studio bosses who are selectively nailing certain models. It is kind of like in the U.S. when the police sometimes only enforce laws on people of a certain race. An example of that is hurricane Katrina in New Orleans. On CNN they would show people of one race scavenging for food and supplies and they were said to be brave and courageous heroes doing everything they can to survive, yet when members of another race did the exact same thing, they called them savage looters and shot them.

There is one model who is very rarely on who does fantastic shows with dancing, etc. However he plays some awful music that is so loud that it makes my laptop shake. Phil has reviewed him at least twice and mentioned how great the guy is and how ear-splitting his music is.

I really don't think that playing some music in the background in a chatroom is a copyright violation that could be or would be enforced. Copyrights are intended to protect artists from lost music sales due to CD quality reproductions. The sound of a model typing or moaning or singing along or making squishy noises clearly makes the music secondary and useless for reproduction on it's own.

I really don't think that playing some music in the background in a chatroom is a copyright violation that could be or would be enforced.

I only tell you what more than one model told me. Some were from Europe, the one who was fined was from the US. Along these same lines of music copyrights it goes for when some models hide brand names on products. Some are conscious not to show logos or brand names on their clothes, beverages, etc.

Again, only relaying what models have told me.

Think it's also a case of the cost of the broadcast licence for music - as playing music in a webcam room where there are lots of people COULD be considered as a public entertainment broadcast and over here in the UK playing music / making a broadcast of copyrighted material to more than i think it;s 10 people needs the broadcaster ( in this case that may be model / studio OR parent site ) to get an entertainment licence

A broadcast license is pretty cheap. I forget how much though. One problem is how different countries observe copyrights. China completely ignores them, but the U.K. is strict about it. Remember that in the U.K. they send around trucks with electronic spy equipment and force people to pay for licenses to operate a television!

I don't think this site would be consider public access since it requires a login and password, but it could be considered pubic access. : )

Also, I think it is safe to say that people are not coming to this site to listen to music. The background music is incidental and primarily for the MODEL's enjoyment. There are a bazillion laws and ordinance and rules in the world. Only a tiny percentage of them are observed or enforced. They mainly exist to deal with cases of abuse. Can you imagine if people obeyed speed limits? Police generally don't mind if you do 10 mph over the speed limit, but people who abuse the limit by 30 mpg get a court date.

As for the cost - what if it turns out that the site needs a licence for each performer om here ? based on an example of $100 ( assuming it needs renewing annualy ) with at a estimate of 2500 models this site has on its books ( Active and non-active ) spread between all 3 sections -- that is $250,000 a year. And that might just be for licences in 1 country. So if that's the case - lets see Europe is roughly 44 countries so that equals $11,000,000 ANUALLY. Guess what - the site will no doubt pass the expenses on to us the customers meaning higher VIP price AND a LOT higher price for credits.

And then there's the issue of a song may be allowed to be played in 1 country but not in another -- China has just added a whole slew of songs to it's list of banned material including tracks by Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Backstreet Boys ( hears the shout from the back of the hall of 'WHO?') and Katy Perry. And we all know that China takes no sh!t when it comes to law breakers.

You are right, but I would like to add some more to it.
While it is true that grays who have not signed up for a name do not enter any password, one can also be a gray and get a username by signing up without registering a payment method. Even named grays time out after several minutes though.

I am guessing that China doesn't ban anything for copyright reasons but rather they ban it for censorship purposes.

My main issue is why in some studios, one model can play music while another model sitting on the exact same couch is not allowed to play music.

I would be curious to know if the site has received any complaints from real / credible people of authority over the use of background music in the shows. Yuong people tend to listen to about 20 seconds of any song before changing it, so I can't imagine any record company getting upset about that.

It's a copyright issue in the US and a studio rules issue in the E. Europe studios. It should be a copyright issue in Europe too, but let's see the RIAA get any sort of compliance from the Russian government over copyright laws with debatable definitions. :guitar

Are there models from China here? If not, then what brought China into the discussion?

I bought china into the discussion based on the fact that some countries list some songs as subversive to the cultural beliefs and others don't care -- just because there is no models based in China - who knows if there are any customers there.
