I don't know why some members keep their video clips private. I always allow mine to be shown unless asked by the model not to do so. That has only happened to me once and I do have a lot of videos.

All of the shows you do with a model are yours because you paid for them. You get to watch them an unlimited amount of times.

We don't get access to the top 3% of the performers for a specific period of time. However, the videos are available for viewing for 7 days and during that period, the video may become available. I can attest to that, it has happened to me. Videos that weren't available on the first day have become available during the 7 day period. You just have to keep checking.

I have found that the number of videos that are blocked to be quite small. I guess that depends on the "type" of models you are looking for.

You also get free access to Feature Shows.

I have been considering becoming a VIP member.. but I have hesitated because I don't understand
the benefits of becoming VIP.
Other than some discounts and extra bonus points, what are the other benefits?

I have found that when I go searching for VOD clips, about half of the one's I want are marked: "The original customer has requested that this show be kept private." Why would the original customer do that? It is so annoying.

Also, I've heard that VIP members get access to VOD clips.. but not all of them. Which one's don't VIP members get access to? With my luck, it's the ones I want : )

Loaded questions. The site has a VIP page explaining the benefits of VIP. Gold Font equals more recognition in the chat rooms (given that you aren't an abusive pinhead) VIPs get free admission to Group Chat (green curtains, rare occasions these days party chat has pretty much done away with them) more tipping options in party chat, a pretty avatar of your choice in these here forums, the ability to save your favorite models in a favorites list( for easier access to them when they are online) the option of sending pics in Flirtmail, and to try and answer two of your questions at once, access to somewhere around 100 free fresh VODS a day (pretty randomly chosen, so it's not a ? of which ones you don't get to see, it's which ones you do) and to the expansive VIPVOD library which contains videos from throughout the history of the site. There are probably even more benefits, but i can't recall them now.

Your second question is two parted. what you said is that it was the purchaser's option to keep the VOD unD'able. Some customers would like to keep their fantasies or relations with the the models solely between them and the model, in essence, private in it's truest meaning.

Models also have options. There are a number of reasons models nix their VODS. Piracy is one of the main ones. Others feels their share of the profit made from them is not worth it. Some models take a break from or leave the site altogether and request there videos do the same.

Maybe that helps.

VOD clips are either shared or not shared. Where they are shared you can see them in the VOD collection on the model's bio page. Where they are not shared (particularly with some of the Russian models) they don't appear on the model's bio page.

You will particularly want to know that Jack Vorobey's VODs and Cupidonn's current VODs are only available to those who paid for the shows. The decision not to share the VODs is made by the studio and cannot be over-ridden. Cupidonn's VODs from last summer are shared and appear on his bio page.

As a VIP you can see a daily selection of 100 VODs for free for a period of 7 days. These are only the shared VODs, so won't include any by Jack Vorobey or Cupidonn. The selection is a random one. Within this selection there are some VODs from the top models which you can't see. For example, when William Haley is in the top 3% you can't see his VODs. This can change from day to day.

As a VIP you can see VODs of your own shows on an unlimited basis. You can also see feature shows and a selection of archived shows on an unlimited basis. These include one-hour shows by Borat, Mister Denis and Damian I. The feature shows tend to include some of the hunkier models.

I enjoy being a VIP member, but feel that VS could provide a better service to make it even more attractive.

Why should I uncover them to anybody else ?

That makes sense, however, I bet if there was any benefit to the chatter to keep the private available, they would uncover them.

Also, if a video is NOT available... why even catalog them? It is frustrating to find a video I want, and then find out I can't view it. If it is not available, just delete it permanently and don't have links to it.

I think I WILL try a VIP membership, but I am very hesitant about it.

Actually it is the person who takes the performer private who chooses to make a private private in most cases. Only exceptions is when a performer his or herself requests that none of their privates are made available OR when a studio doesn;t allow it like the case of some of the Russian studios.

I agree that piracy USED to be a concern many years ago, but not anymore. The reason I say that is because there was a MASSIVE amount of content from at least 3 Canadian and 2 U.S. webcam sites - and all of that is virtually wiped off the internet. Not only are there no pirated videos of the content of these sites, I can't find photos of any models from these sites. Also, it is interesting that it is almost impossible to get older porn movies anymore. Specifically, this service probably has over a million video clips archived, yet none of them seem to be pirated. The reason I say this is that I have done searches for various models just to remember what they looked like - and their photos and names seem to be non-existent on the internet anymore. I know of one studio boss on this site who used to be a model who does a couple of shows every year or two just so he WON'T be swept away into internet oblivion.
I have another example. Years ago, there were only a couple hundred porn stars who would make dozens, hundreds, and sometimes thousands of movies in their careers. Now, there are so many porn stars that most of them only make a few movies in their entire career.
What I am getting at is that porn on the internet has become quite anonymous. The odds of someone's past work coming back to haunt them in the future are extremely small.

Where's your proof genius? I turned in a site a few months ago that had a pirated flirt VOD. Flirt has since strengthened its VOD recording system and introduced the top 3% of models being able to limit access to their VODs.

The strengthening of the VOD recording system that you mention was only announced by VS on April 7 this year (in the News and Announcements forum). This suggests there was a fair bit of pirating before then, as VS themselves mention it. They should know. :bulb

Interesting that you link this with the 3% rule. I didn't think that was introduced or announced recently, although I have to say I have only noticed it in the last couple of months. If you have more info you might want to post it in the Daily Free Restricted VOD thread in the General Discussions (VIP) forum. We are struggling a little bit to make sense if it.

I think the proper Forum is the Technical forum. 60% of the members of this site are straight, and the post is relevant to both gay and straight members, so.. Technical Forum is the right place for it.

The 3% update was announced on March 23rd by VSBrad in the News & Announcements Forum. I'm not VIP so I'm unable to post there. I would assume that thread already has that info I mentioned in it along with many replies.

Today we rolled out some changes to make the VOD system more flexible and palatable to all parties. The major change is that performer who are in the top 3% of all models (girls, guys and shemales calculated separately) will have their VODs made only accessible to the original customer. If the performer falls out of the top 3% the VODs will be accessible by all again. This check happens several times an hour.

As always, you have the ability to mark your own shows as private if you so desire. That setting supersedes any of these checks.

I knew there had been a lot of complaints about the 3% rule, but thought they were all in the Restricted Free Daily VOD thread in the General Discussions forum. I think I have seen this thread before, and interesting to see it again. It looks as if the 3% rule was a compromise solution in the "love/hate relationship". Not sure about flexible and palatable.

Actually once again you are incorrect.

The question posed in this thread and the replies are nothing to do with TECHNICAL issues , If you feel the need to get responses from both Gay and straight members then put a post in both , but you should see by now that there is already plenty of cross over between the Gay and Straight forums ... I agree with Bally, but in the past few months, I have emailed customer support on several credible issues, and I have NEVER gotten a response. However, I must say that if you CALL customer service, and report a troublemaker in a chat room, they almost always ban that troublemaker instantly. I know what it is like to have a business where you check your mail and you have over 100 unanswered messages to deal with - most of them with stupid questions. I used to work 16 hours a day trying to answer everybody.
