What is up with the notification? I set them up with my contact address and they always disappear. Anyone have any ideas? My contact address cannot receive anything if there is nothing to send. I think this is a site software issue problem, but no one has replied to my request for help.

This problem seems to arise from time to time and has been documented a number of times in the forums :

but I suspect the answer is simply that it takes Notifications a long time to reach the North Pole

Actually, something has changed about the notifications and they are coming out much more slowly than 2 or 3 weeks ago. Models can be online for hours before I get their notification email where they used to be within 20 or 30 minutes of when they first logged on.

It seems like the algorithm that checks for when to send them is running less frequently or has higher thresholds, not that the emails themselves are being delayed somewhere because many times I don't get them at all rather than getting them after the model has logged out.

For example, Eric N and Oliver Larsen have been online for several hours and I haven't received notifications for them as of 2:35am EST 11/24/12.

Just want to say a BIG THANK YOU... I think I solved the problem (fingers crossed). Did a hunt to find this subscription thing and somehow it had been turned off.
So dang cool to get help from fellow viewers. :bulb

WOOW the light bulb just turned on I guess.

As this has (repeatedly) happened to me, I offer what was given to me as answers to my questions.

First, notifications may be delayed by your e-mail server for some reason, sometimes for a few minutes, sometimes for hours. This may be not only for VS but for any e-mail you receive. You could contact your e-mail host for information about that.

Next, VS informed me (see one of the previously posted links) that they only send out one e-mail for a model every 8 hours, so if you receive one notification at 4 a.m. and the model has already gone offline by the time you log in at 6 a.m., should the model show up again at 7 a.m., you would not receive a second notification.

As to your Subscriptions being turned off, VS said that trying to respond to models' e-mails while off the site (e.g., responding to the notification from your own e-mail server) could cause the switch, and apparently a failure to send an e-mail while on the site (e.g., missing subject line, censored text, etc.) that requires an edit will also turn off your Subscriptions.
