While we can't come to this number exactly, it seems like roughly 3% of the shows recorded in 2011 exhibit this behavior. It seems limited to the non-HD streams though.


Not to add to your problems, but all three of my black screen VODs were HD; at least, when you try to play them now they're marked as HD. A new interesting twist is that the most recent one seems to show that it has 1 play, which is quite a trick seeing as how it's unplayable.

Until the problem is fixed, i am canceling my VIP membership and will not be spending any more money on pvt shows with anyone. I will leave my account open for a while until the problem is fixed. If I am no longer able to view that last show (which I thoroughly enjoyed) any longer, it is likely I will not return at all.

I can't say that I'll probably go quite that far, but I will say that it has definitely put a damper on my willingness to spend on privates.

Thank you for that information and at least giving me, plus the other consumers a reasonable explanation about this issue. And, although I accept that there are issues beyond your control, the fact still remains; we are being ripped off after spending our money for a membership that is supposed to mallow us to view our pvt showings at any time, now we can't it seems. I honestly don't know how to trust that the software will screw up again and cheat me of another show I'm supposed to be able to view at my leisure. I believe your sincerity in trying to fix these issues but, i refuse to spend any more money if i do not know if I can trust the service to screw me out of another session. Until the problem is fixed, i am canceling my VIP membership and will not be spending any more money on pvt shows with anyone. I will leave my account open for a while until the problem is fixed. Once ya cancel your VIP account you lose ALL free access to your own vods. I know this after a problem with my account meant it was temporarily de-viped.

It will not play for the owner of the vod, but it will play for any other paying customer..This really really sucks!!!

Well it looks like we got to the bottom of this. One of our developers ended up writing a custom program to go in and re-tool the metadata on the affected FLV files so that they could be re-processed. We tested on a few dozen files this afternoon and this change fixed them all.

Currently there are about 6,000 videos to fix and the machines are processing one video every 10 to 15 seconds. It's going to take a bit to get them all re-processed and to have the images re-created (no more black boxes!) but the finish line is in site.

I'll check back in on this thread in a day or so once everything is caught up.

Well, I guess this didn't work completely. Even if the process did one video every 60 seconds, that would have been just over 4 days - so I would think it would be done by now. But my three black box vods are still MIA.

Yes, I haven't noticed any differences in my missing VODs going back to November 16th. Maybe it's just taking longer than expected.

Update:

In the case of my 2 vods (one from 01/20 and one from 01/23) customer service tells me:

Hello,

We are sorry but it looks like they did not record, and unfortunately there
is nothing we can do to recover those videos.

This despite the fact I was able to watch one the night it was recorded, and hovering over the upper corner for the thumbnail will make pics from both vods appear momentarily on my vod screen. Not sure that I want to renew my VIP account, which renews today...

I had a 27min Private on January 14, 2012 that's the same. Brad posted they had some program that was fixing them, but I guess it didn't work. It makes me a little skittish about doing any that long anymore. I guess I might have to do just 3 10min ones, and hope that at least a few of them get saved correctly. Still going to stay Vip though. :)

ive had one black screen in one of my pvt shows and i contacted customer service and they said there was nothing they could do since the reason it was a black screen was bc it was never recorded
