The last couple of days, when watching videos,they buffer every minute or two. As well, when entering a room in free chat, the screen takes a few extra seconds to load. I have Adobe reader 9. Is the issue there? Any suggestions? Thanks.

The latest version of Adobe Flash is 11; you should upgrade to the latest version regardless. The buffering is most likely due to a slow Internet connection or a bottleneck between your computer and our servers somewhere on the net.

chinmusic - I think you have touched on a area where I think VS might be able to provide some better FAQ-type advice to performers and members. The key seems to be the optimum broadcast quality/speed.

Some performers have poor quality picture quality, but the video stream is continuous - no freezing or buffering. They are probably using a low Mbits/sec setting.

Other performers have brilliant picture quality, but the live video keeps jumping or freezing. Their VODs keep buffering, as you mention. They are probably using a high Mbits/sec setting.

I think there is an optimum setting that should be used, which is somewhere between the two.

(I am also a bit doubtful about what constitutes "HD". I have seen quite a variety of picture quality which is labelled as HD).

I have already raised this in the context of Group Chat, where there is an extra graphics screen (the pot of coins) which also needs to be handled.

I am sure that some performers have settings which are too high for their local broadband to handle (perhaps at particular times). There are also peak times when my local broadband usage is restricted, and cannot handle the highest quality without freezing (live) or buffering (VODs).

There are many performers (in different countries, including the US, Colombia, Russia and Romania) where everything has worked fine for me, so I don't think the buffering, freezing or jumping problems I have experienced are due to my PC/software setup.

I updated to Adobe Flash 11, as well as Adobe Reader 10, and the issue remains. Is the bottleneck you alluded to a temporary thing? My computer in general is running fine.
