Just in the last few days I have started to experience very choppy audio and video in the chat rooms. It is so bad, I can't tell what the model is saying. Apparently, nobody else is having this problem. I have closed everything else that was running on my pc, cleared all cache and cookies and restarted my pc (twice) and it just gets worse. Everything starts out fine and then all of a sudden it gets very choppy, sort of like it's constantly buffering or something. Can anybody help me?

What speed internet are you on ?

Use speedtest.net and select the city nearest you for the test and then select LA area as a test too, then try UK London too.. and then copy links of the tests and paste them in the reply.

Also you maybe getting throttled at certain times of the day by your internet service provider, some are now doing that to keep their service available to all. If they are doing throttling and packet shaping that may also be the cause of some of your problems at certain times of the day.. Maybe worth calling them up and asking them to run a quick line test on your connection also ask them if they do any form of packet shaping and throttling on the bandwidth.

Also are you having problems with the standard video rooms or the new HD rooms ?

I am experiencing the problem at the same time of the evening every day. What is curious is that I can go to some rooms and have no problem and there is one certain room in particular (the one I want to be in) that has given me problems 3 nights in a row. The problem changed tonight somewhat, because the room has been upgraded to HD. Now it freezes and skips. Still VERY irritating. I'll call my ISP tomorrow and ask about the throttling and such. I am supposed to have a business connection, so I WILL get an answer from them.

Your connection speeds seem good to me, so I would contact the ISP and ask them what is going on if they are doing traffic shaping. Also if you are using wifi to connect to the site I would advise sitting closer to the wifi router or using a direct cable link from the router to the pc you are using.

These problems continue and are intermittent. One night I have the problem and the next, someone else in the room has the problem. When the model restarts her room, the problem clears up for those that were having issues and sometimes someone else has the same issues. It appears to be related to what server the model is on and not where the chatter is logged in. It sometimes is ok for awhile and then when it begins, there is no way to clear the problem until the model restarts her room. She is using the HD interface and noone complained about this in her room till she made the change to HD. Hope this helps to correct the problem.

Lookin4T maybe worth mentioning the room name then can check it out myself (also the admin can check it too) and see if i'm seeing the same problem you guys are seeing.

Strange her room is amazing quality for me always and when she went HD it got even better I don't ever remember her room causing a problem and I'm there a lot normally quiet in the corner.. I have a funny feeling she is running at very high bandwidth and people on slow connections are having a hard time there.. Will check next time when she's online how much bandwidth her room is pushing out.

Okay just noticed she's online now and did some tests on her room to see what sort of speeds her room is throwing out..

Well her connection seems to be set at 1000kb/s for HD video.

I see her room go from 650kb/s to 1000kb/s (which is normal, that is how the video/audio codec compression works to try keeping the bitrate low and within the maximum bitrate allowable) so you need to make sure you have atleast a steady 1mbps connection for non-choppy audio and video... Her room works great for me every time I go there but again i'm on a 24mbps connection.

I would check your connection mate and what speeds you are getting at the time it becomes choppy.

Also can you add what specs your computer is... Could be just you have a slow computer that does not like HD content and can't keep up.

i'm having the same trouble.i always had a choppy connection to my fave's room(seductive breeze).she went HD and the video got a bit better but the text was taking for ever to get to me.she got up and walked away to get a outfit and text was coming up on the screen.i was like your not thier who's typing.she thought i was nuts.then after awhile the picture got choppy.i have the same speed you got 24mbps it's got to be my laptop.i don't know anything about comps.this is my first.but i'm thinking on a new one.any suggestions on computers.thanks

i got a hp dv7-1245dx...amd turion x2 dual core processor RM-72 (2.1GHZ,1MB L2 Cache)...320gb hard drive...windows vista home premium (64-bit)

PC specs are okay, looking up the laptop tells another story, if you google the laptop and look for some reviews they rate that laptop very poor in performance.

AMD Turion X2: The Turion X2 (without 64) is based on the Turion X2 Ultra, but has only 1024 MB L2 Cache and is therefore slower (performance compareable to the old Turion 64 X2). Because of new parts from the K10 architecture, the CPU should be more energy efficient.

I would install Windows 7 on that laptop and try see if you can make it perform better. Vista is terrible for desktops and a major flaw when added to a laptop. So looking at that laptop I would install XP Pro or Windows 7 32bit version.. That way it will behave faster, also I would check your internet connection speeds are what you think they should be. Read above what I said about speed testing.

Also to add I just tried the HD rooms on a laptop running a single core P4 2.8GHz, 1Gb ram, Windows XP Pro, screen resolution 1024 x 768 and Wireless internet connection (WIFI)at 54.0Mbps, Signal Strength = Exellent.. This laptop managed to open 3 HD rooms and 4 standard rooms all at once and non were lagging .. This was on Firefox latest version and latest flash player... So i'm starting to think bad Windows VISTA or poor wireless connection speeds or the Internet connection is causing the problem.
